The company is currently working on a number of large-scale projects across the UK for organisations such as Sustrans, Newcastle City Council, Southwark Cathedral, Thames Water and the Royal Courts of Justice.

Managing director of STS, Dave Stone, said: “We’re passionate about creating opportunities for local people and we always recruit from the North East. Training the next generation to be able to work in restoration and maintenance is vital as buildings and structures will always need repairing. The three new recruits are really enthusiastic about their trade and it’s a really exciting time for them to be joining the business.”

The last 12 months have seen STS has experience its most successful year to date with a 20% year-on-year growth. The company has seen its turnover increase from around £2 million to over £3 million in the last 12 months and staff numbers are now approaching 50. There are plans to grow the business by another 20% in the coming year and create around five new jobs.
